Shaffer’s 1979 masterpiece is a fictionalized story of the boy-genius Mozart and his musical contemporary, the Court Composer Antonio Salieri. Narrated by Salieri (the self-confessed “Patron Saint of Mediocrities”) whose life’s work is threatened by his jealousy of Mozart’s brilliance, this drama examines Salieri’s tortured, obsessive battle with the Creator, as the older composer rages against a God who has bestowed the greatest gifts to someone else.

How did Charles Dickens come to write the holiday classic “A Christmas Carol”? In this witty new play, an ambitious young family man plans an elaborate trick on his old miser of an uncle, Ebenezer Scrooge. To help, he enlists a sarcastic and morally suspect female theatrical producer, and a mumbly writer, who hasn’t had a hit since Nicholas Nickleby.

This 2015 drama – poetically and imaginatively written – is the true story of 19th-century astronomer Henrietta Leavitt. It explores a woman’s place in society as several different women negotiate a time of immense scientific and personal discoveries. With music and math bursting forth onstage, Henrietta and her female peers change the way we understand both the heavens and Earth.
