Director’s Notes
The beauty of a great theatrical farce lies in two things: the comin timing must feel like sips of fizzy champagne bubbles, and the personalities must be charmingly flawed — and recognizably humans. We ride the waves of comic complications because We Are Those People.
The world of BOEING BOEING IS 1962, a time in which one Kennedy was in the White House, another Kennedy was reigning with intelligence and grace, Europe emerged from post-war recovery, and The Jet Age suggested anything was possible — that we might even send humans to the moon! In terms of gender roles, watch how new opportunities for Gloria, Gabriella and Gretchen to (quite literally) experience the whole world throws the men of the play into a sort of terrifying free fall.
Most mostly, enjoy the artistry of our fine actors and creative team. We are privileged and excited to share tonight with you!
