August 25-27, 2003
One of the slickest psychological thrillers ever written for the stage, SLEUTH is twisty, intriguing and wickedly fun. The plot will keep you on the edge of your seat as successful mystery novelist Andrew Wyke invites young Milo Tindle over to his remote manor house with a glib, “I understand you want to marry my wife.” What follows is a complex cat-and-mouse game of suspense, jealousy and revenge. Wichita Repertory Theater revives Anthony Shaffer’s 1970 masterpiece.

Director’s Notes
Wichita Repertory Theater is presenting SLEUTH for you because it is a sparkling, darkly funn7y, challenging and memorable piece of theater. Along with the Law and Order police officers who enter the story in Act 2, SLEUTH features two leading players in remarkably demanding acting roles. I selected the play to feature the work of Matthew Gwinner and Jo Smith
As Artistic Director, I have three balanced loyalties: 1. to the playwright, 2. to the creatives on my team, and 3. to you, our audience. If I’ve done my job correctly, then the actors and designers rise to the next level of artistic excellence and the audience is still talking about the play days later!
Anthony Shaffer’s SLEUTH is a vibrant gem of a play! Enjoy the psychological depth and comic thrills. We have had such a wonderful time preparing to share this evening with you!
